Purpose

The purpose of the Inspections Division is to enforce minimum building standards designed to protect public health, safety and general welfare.  This goal of protecting the public interest is achieved by regulating the design, construction, occupancy and use of all buildings and structures.

The Inspections Division has created a Before You Build checklist to help make the plan review and permitting process as smooth as possible.

The 2012 Virginia Uniform Statewide Construction Code (USBC)  is effective July 14, 2014.  Applicants may choose to utilize the 2009 USBC for a one year period after the effective date.

To Schedule a Building Inspection

Inspection requests taken before 10:00 a.m. will be performed the same day if at all possible.  Any requests made after 10:00 a.m. will be scheduled for the following day.
