The Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center & the Appomattox County 4-H Extension Programs, will again, be offering numerous activities.  The Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center has many events & programs for various age groups, see below what is being offered & join in the fun. 

The Appomattox County 4-H Extension Office also has a good variety of after-school & specialty clubs, as well as, events during the year for youth to participate in.   To sign your child up for a program or for information on these & any other programs, please call the Extension Office at 434-352-8244 or e-mail Bonnie Tillotson at btillots@vt.edu.

Interstate Exchange 4-H Club

This club is for members 13-18 years of age.  It is an in-depth learning experience in which 4-H members, leaders and/or staff have a reciprocal host family experience with a 4-H program from another state. For more information call the Appomattox Extension Office at 434-352-8244.

Appomattox 4-H Shooting Education Club

This club meets on Thursday evenings & some weekends.  Members learn safe firearm handling & proper shooting techniques.  Disciplines include:  BB, Air Rifle, Air Pistol, Archery, Muzzleloader, .22 & Shotgun.  The club leader is Robert Tillotson.  For more information call the Appomattox Extension Office at 434-352-8244.

Appomattox 4-H Livestock Club

Livestock covered will be cattle, goats, sheep & pigs.  Members will learn proper care of & how to show their animal.  Open to ages 9 & up.  For more information call the Appomattox Extension Office at 434-352-8244.

Appomattox 4-H Horse & Pony Club

This is a mounted horse club, where members get instruction about horses & have hands-on activities.  The members of the mounted group will participate in Games on Horseback, Horsemanship Skills, Shows & Trail Rides.  Business meetings will be at the Appomattox Extension Office & mounted meetings will be held at a variety of facilities.  For more information call the Appomattox Extension Office at 434-352-8244.    

Junior Master Gardener 4-H Club

Youth will learn about: annuals & perennials; how to prepare a site for planting; weed identification; soils; plant needs; how nutrients & competition affect plant growth; a plant's transport system; plants that attract butterflies & hummingbirds; vegetable gardening: & projects to take home.  There will be numerous hands-on activities.  

Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center 2017 Summer Swimming Classes

All classes are taught at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center Pool.  Participants must pre-register to attend class & full payment is due at registration time.  Cost is $50.00 for children & water babies classes are $35.00.  There are no refunds for cancellations due to inclement weather.  In-water participation is required for all children who are less than three feet six inches tall.  To register call 248-5444 & mail payment to Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, 1267 4-H Camp Rd., Appomattox, Va.  24522.  

Youth Beginning Swimming - This 8 day course is open to ages 4-12 & teaches youth water familiarization & basic swimming strokes.

Water Babies - This 4 day (30 minute class) is open to ages 1-4 & orients children to the water.  Parents must participate in the water with their child.
