Waste Separation Requirements

All waste is required to be separated into the following categories in order to facilitate disposal. Waste will not be accepted for disposal that is not separated. 

The following items may be mixed together:

  • Bags of household waste
  • Floor coverings
  • Furniture
  • Glass
  • Household items
  • Insulation
  • Miscellaneous items not considered recycle
  • Painted wood
  • Paneling
  • Pressed wood
  • Sheetrock
  • Shingles

Recycle items should be separated into the following categories:

  • Aluminum (Scrap)
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Antifreeze (only accepted at the Waste Management Department convenience center and limited to five gallons per visit from residents, no businesses)
  • Batteries (lead acid)
  • Batteries (rechargeable)
  • Brush/Leaves/Mulch/Yard Waste (only accepted at the Waste Management Department convenience center)
  • Cardboard      
  • Cell Phones
  • Electronics including computers, CD and DVD players, and VCR's.
  • Fire Wood (only accepted at the Waste Management Department convenience center)
  • Mixed metals including appliances, lawnmowers, etc.
  • Mixed Paper
  • Oil Filters       
  • Plastics #1
  • Plastics #2
  • Printer Cartridges
  • Rubble including clean brick, cinder blocks and concrete (only accepted at the Waste Management Department convenience center and can not have any re bar, wire or wood attached)
  • Steel Cans
  • Textiles
  • Tires (only accepted at the Waste Management Department convenience center, call for details)
  • Used Oil (only accepted at the Waste Management Department convenience center and limited to five gallons per visit from residents, no businesses)
  • Wood including unpainted wood
